Tales from the Amphitheatre Security Files: Fan Frenzy

We've compiled a handful of narratives for you from the weekend's criminal goings-on at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park. Oh, and we have the mug shots, to boot.

It's no secret that it can get a little rowdy at the in Tinley Park.

We've pulled the weekend's rabble-rousers into this handy dandy roundup of off-the-wall—and often (allegedly) drunken—shenanigans. This list may not be complete, as police reports often roll in several days after the actual arrests. But it's up-to-date as of 6 p.m. Aug. 22. If we find more hooligans, we'll add ’em during the week.

Mark T. Klimasara, 21, of Alsip, was arrested around 11 p.m. Aug. 20 and charged with attempted criminal trespassing to a place of public amusement. Police said that around 10:45 p.m., Klimasara climbed over a barricade to get to a restricted area in the front of the stage. He told police he didn't do anything wrong, the report said.

Police said theater security staff also brought John L. Miaczynski, 22, of Peotone, to the station after they saw him climb over a barricade separating the seating area from "the pit," which is a restricted area in the front of the stage.

"Miaczynski was attempting to climb onto the stage while the band, Blink 182, was still performing," the report said. "Security staff pulled him down … "

The report also said Miaczynski made the "unsolicited comment that he was trying to go on stage to get a microphone from one of the band members."

After police found that he had two active warrants—one out of Will County and one out of McClean County—he was arrested. Criminal trespassing to a place of public amusement is a Class 4 felony, and theater staff said they preferred to pursue a misdemeanor charge against Miaczynski. He was charged with attempting to criminally trespass. His bail was set at $4,000.

'He Just Wanted to See Blink 182'

Police arrested an 18-year-old man Saturday after they said he tried to get into the backstage dressing room for Blink 182 while the band was performing.

Nelz E. Ursich, of the 16800 block of South Sayre Avenue in Tinley Park, was told around 8 p.m. that he couldn't enter the backstage area—despite the fact that he was wearing a red "First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre" shirt that he said he thought gave him access. He then began arguing with security staff members, who told police he appeared drunk, they said.

" … (He) continued to argue with the security guards and said that he just wanted to see Blink 182," the report said.

When the cops rolled up, they saw Ursich "swinging his arms in the air, push off the security guards and attempt to run from (them) … while heading to the security office," the report said.

One of the guards told police Ursich had stomped on his left foot, aggravating a prior injury he had. While Ursich was being arrested, police said they found a plastic bag in his pocket that had in it two cigars filled with marijuana. He also had a bottle of rum and coke, they said.

After reportedly blowing a .243 during a breathalyzer test, Ursich was charged with battery, consumption of alcohol by a minor and possession of marijuana. His bail was set at $1,500.

When Fans Attack

Lewis J. Scheer, 23, of the 5400 block of South Edgewood Avenue in LaGrange, was arrested around 9:50 p.m. Saturday and charged with battery after police said he threw a chair at them while being escorted out of the theater. His bail was set at $1,500.

Alex McNeill, 22, and Kaine E. Boyle, 20, both of the 200 block of Wood Street in Lafayette, Ind., were arrested around 7:15 p.m. Saturday and charged with battery. Police said the two attacked a 37-year-old security guard who was working at the theater. The two are citizens of Australia but have been attending classes at the University of Purdue in Indiana.

Holly M. Roberts, 31, of the 700 block of Eagle Creek Drive in Valparaiso, Ind., was arrested around 10 p.m. Friday during a Kid Rock show and charged with battery. A security guard first approached Roberts when she reportedly saw her drop a plastic cup over a railing in the theater's upper level, sending it to fall on the group below. When the guard went to speak with Roberts, she reportedly spit in the staff member's face, according to the police report. She also pinched the security guard while she was being held and taken to the site's security office, the report said. Roberts and her fiance said she didn't intentionally spit on the security guard, the report said.
