Thieves Speed Away From Tinley Home in a Stolen Car

Tinley Park police said burglars stole several sets of keys from a local residence.

Burglars broke into a Basswood Drive home this week and made off with a car, several sets of keys and a pair of cell phones.

police got a call around 8:40 a.m. July 26, from a resident in the 9000 block of West Basswood who told officers that between 4 a.m. and 8:35 a.m., someone entered his garage, cars and home before speeding off in his Mitsubishi Lancer, according to the report.

Before doing so, police said the thief, or thieves, broke into an unlocked Honda Civic that was parked in the driveway and used a garage door opener to get into the home. The person then took a house key, a garage door key, Lancer keys and a spare key to a grey Lexus GS430. Two cell phones were also swiped from the kitchen, the report said.

When the burglar left in the Lancer, he or she struck the Lexus, which was also parked the driveway.

Neighbors told police they hadn't seen anything suspicious that night, according to the report. One resident, though, said he has video surveillance outside his home. He agreed to give a copy of the footage to investigators.
