A Tinley Park man pulled over and taken into custody on suspicion of drunken driving went into a rage in the back seat of the squad car and shattered the shield that protects the officers in the front seat, according to police.
Flossmoor police said they pulled over Carlton Casto, 20, on Saturday, May 7, after seeing him swerving in and out of his traffic lane. During the traffic stop investigation, as the responding officer was in his squad car requesting additional police backup, Casto drove off, only to be pulled over a second time roughly one block down the road, according to the report.
Police said Casto was removed from his vehicle, determined to be intoxicated and placed under arrest.
While in the back of the squad car, Casto began kicking at the window separating him from the officers, according to the report. After repeatedly shouting profanity at the police officers and threatening to kill them, Casto finally managed to shatter the window, while police were inside, according to the report.
Police said they brought Casto back to the station, where they discovered in his possession 6 grams of marijuana distributed among three small plastic bags.
Casto, of the 7600 block of Claremont in Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, criminal damage to state property, possession of marijuana and improper usage of lanes, according to police.
Additional charges are pending, according to police.
