Tinley Park High School teacher and coach Ryan Dolan has been charged with sexually assaulting a student, Tinley Park Police Chief Steve Neubauer said Monday.
Dolan, 29, of Tinley Park was arrested Saturday and is charged with two counts of felony criminal sexual assault against a student. Bail was set at $250,000 Monday afternoon.
Prosecutors allege that Dolan had sex with a student under the age of 18 Friday afternoon. Prosecutors said police are also investigating Dolan regarding allegations of child pornography.
An element of the charge of criminal sexual assault includes consideration that the suspect holds a position of trust, authority and supervision over the victim, police said. Dolan teaches history, as well as serving as coach of freshman football and varsity wrestling, said Lori DeVos, Community Relations Coordinator for District 228.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
Dolan is currently suspended with pay and will not be allowed on campus, said Superintendent Bill Kendall in a statement to parents Monday afternoon. The District 228 Board of Education could take action against Dolan at its March 18 meeting, Kendall said.
"I urge parents to talk with your students about the situation," Kendall said. "If any student has a question or concern, please have them talk with an administrator or counselor."
