Tinley Park Teacher Charged With Sexually Assaulting Student Resigns

Ryan Dolan, 29, a wrestling coach and teacher who is facing felony charges of sexual assault turned in his resignation on Tuesday evening.

The Tinley Park teacher and wrestling coach charged with sexually assaulting a high school student resigned Tuesday and will not be allowed back on campus.

Ryan Dolan, 29, a beloved teacher at Tinley Park High School was arrested on Saturday and charged with two felony counts of criminal sexual assault against a student.

Dist. 228 spokeswoman Lori DeVos said that a resignation letter from Dolan was dropped off at the district office Tuesday evening. The resignation is effective immediately.

A brief statement from Superintendent Dr. Bill Kendall on the district’s website read:

“On March 8, the Tinley Park Police Department charged Mr. Ryan Dolan with one count of criminal sexual assault. Mr. Dolan, a teacher and coach at Tinley Park High School, resigned, effective March 11, 2014, and will not be allowed on campus.

I encourage parents to talk with their students about the situation. If any student has a question or concern, they should speak with an administrator or counselor. The safety and well-being of all students are always our number one priority.”

Cook County prosecutors alleged during a bond hearing on Monday that Dolan had sex with an underage student last Friday afternoon. Prosecutors said police are also investigating Dolan regarding allegations of child pornography. Bail for Dolan was set at $250,000.

Dolan taught history at Tinley Park High School, and also coached freshman football and varsity wrestling.
