Trouble at Old Country Buffet; $7,000 in Jewelry Stolen, and More

SATURDAY, JUNE 10

Clothes Shoplifted at Target

arrested two women, Shamar L. Wright, 40, and Alicia M. Parker, 34, both of Riverdale, around 8:30 p.m. at Super Target, 7300 W. 191st St. in . The pair was caught stealing more than $250 worth of clothing, according to the police report.

They stuffed the items in their purses and then bought a few grocery items but did not pay for the clothing, police said. Parker was charged with one count of retail theft but Wright was found with an active warrant out of Lansing for driving with a suspended license. She was arrested on that warrant and charged additionally with felony retail theft. She claimed both bags were hers, the report said.

Trouble at Old Country Buffet

A Park Forest woman went to the around 9:45 a.m. to report that her black wristlet was stolen the night before while she was dining at Old Country Buffet, 16060 S. Harlem Ave., .

Among the stolen items were health and gift cards, $40 cash and several credit cards. The thief, or thieves, tried using one of those cards to make a $6,000 purchase at the local Super Target, the report said. The purse was taken between 5:45 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

SATURDAY, JUNE 2

$7,000 in Jewelry Stolen

A woman called the cops after she realized that about $7,000 worth of jewelry and collectable coins were missing from her home on Marquette Drive in . The victim said she believes someone temporarily living in the house stole the jewelry, which were in an armoire in her bedroom. Among the missing items were 14 carat gold bangle bracelets, several watches, a charm bracelet, several rings and a 1972 mint coin set. The owner last saw her armoire contents in tact May 13. 

WEDNESDAY, MAY 16

Warrant Arrest

  • Brian D. Fletcher, 41, of the 23800 block of Kings Road in Crete, was arrested around 9:30 p.m. at the Crestwood Police Department on a warrant out of Tinley Park for driving with a revoked license. Bail was set at $25,000.
  • Ernesto Varela, 36, of the 400 block of West Lincoln Highway in Chicago Heights, was arrested around 7:45 p.m. in Oak Forest on a failure-to-appear warrant out of Tinley Park for traffic violations.
  • Kevin A. Hughes, 29, of the 16900 block of Old Elm Lane in Country Club Hills, was arrested around 9:40 a.m. at the Bridgeview Courthouse on a warrant out of Tinley Park for driving with a suspended license. Bail was set at $5,000.
