Burglar Strikes Two Apartments in Same Complex

A burglar struck two apartments in Hanover Place complex Feb. 8. A $7,000 ring was stolen, along with $60 in cash.

A burglar targeted two different apartments in the same complex Feb. 8, according to reports.

Missing from one apartment are a ring worth approximately $7,000 and three coin purses containing a total of about $100. The burglar took $60 in cash and some food from another apartment in the same complex near 169th and Harlem.

A woman called police after she noticed her mother's ring missing from a bedroom dresser. The woman's mother, who is hospitalized, had been asking for the ring.

The only people with access to the apartment are the woman, her brother and cleaning staff at the complex. The siblings said they had not moved the ring or coin purses since their mother went into the hospital.

While speaking with complex management, police were also informed of a separate burglary incident in a different apartment. The victim told officers that on three separate occasions since December of last year, items have been moved in their apartment and $60 cash went missing.

The person had left notes in their apartment to not enter or touch anything inside their residence, but that the notes have been moved or thrown away each time.

Police are investigating both incidents.
