1 Person Killed in I-80 Crash Near Harlem Avenue
A Ford SUV ran into the back of a dump truck on I-80 around 1 p.m. on Wednesday. The Illinois State Police and Cook County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed at least one person died in the crash.

A two-vehicle crash on I-80, near Harlem Avenue, killed at least one person Wednesday afternoon, according to the Illinois State Police.
A report on the accident was still being worked on, and no details were available concerning the person killed, the state police said. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office could only confirm that there was fatality from the accident.

At least one other person was injured, according to the Sun-Times Media Group.

The crash, which happened around 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, was caused by a Ford SUV rear-ending a dump truck, leaving one of the drivers trapped, the report said.
The eastbound lanes of traffic along I-80 were closed because of the accident, and traffic was backed up because of it, the report continued. Traffic also was affected in the westbound lanes, slowing it down as far back as I-57.
This was the first of three accidents in the eastbound lanes of I-80 on Wednesday, May 8. . The third accident occured near Harlem Avenue again, according to state police.
In both cases, the crashes were a result of the first accident and the traffic congestion caused by it, police said. Drivers were using the shoulder in order to navigate around the inital crash.

A two-car crash on I-80 near Harlem Avenue left two people injured Wednesday afternoon, according to the Sun-Times Media Group.
The crash, which happened about 1 p.m., forced the closing of all eastbound lanes of traffic, and drivers used the shoulder to navigate past the accident.
