Two Teens Arrested, Charged With Delivering Pot

Tinley police said they found a significant amount of weed in a car during a traffic stop.

Police arrested two men around 4:30 p.m. Monday after they said they found them with several bags of marijuana, a scale and cash during a routine traffic stop.

The driver of the vehicle, Mohamed H. Elayyan, 19, was pulled over in the 8300 block of West 163rd Street in after cops clocked him going 45 mph in a 20, they said. One of his passengers was Adam I. Ali, 18, and the other was a 15-year-old juvenile, the report said.

Elayyan was placed under arrest after police found that his license was suspended, according to the report. Then, his car — they said it smelled like marijuana— was searched.

A bank pouch stashed in the glove box had in it a clear plastic bag with a "large amount" of marijuana inside, along with dozens of very small, 1-inch square bags with more marijuana, the report said. They also found a steel grinder, a pack of cigarillos and a small electronic scale.

Elayyan told police he does drug runs for a distant cousin, who pays him a commission, according to the report. The cousin likes Elayyan to take the 15-year-old juvenile with because he's not as "hot" to cause suspicion during delivery, police said.

Elayyan was charged with delivery of between 10 and 30 grams of marijuana and driving on a suspended license. Ali was charged with delivery of between 10 and 30 grams of marijuana.

The vehicle was impounded. It was a rental car.
