Vandals Start Small Fire on Bus of Local Christian School

Police are looking for who is responsible for breaking into a Landmark Christian Academy bus.

A staff member at Tinley Park's reported Tuesday that a small fire had been set on the school's lone bus, police said.

The man said he regularly starts and checks on the bus, which has been routinely parked in the southwest corner of the school's lot, 16250 S. 84th Ave. He had done so a couple weeks ago and "discovered that some person had entered the ... bus and fired the contents of a fire extinguisher on (it), causing a white dust covering over the entire interior …" the police report said.

He checked on the it around 8 a.m. Tuesday and noticed that a small fire had been set next to the driver's seat.

"The burned material appeared to be the vehicle documents that were kept in a plastic slip on the bus," the report said. "Some person(s) wrote in the white dust covering, the words f---, suck and b----."

Police collected evidence from the bus, they said, and asked neighbors if they'd seen anything suspicious.

Some said that around 9:30 p.m. Friday, they saw that the interior lights of the bus were on. Another neighbor said that on Monday, about five boys were hanging around the vehicle while another boy was inside.
