Tinley Park Agency Lauded for Emergency Preparedness

The Tinley Park EMA is ready for any emergency, so says the State of Illinois. The Tinley Park EMA EMA provides support to other Village public safety agencies during emergencies and non-emergencies.

Tinley Park EMA is ready to save the day.

Officials announced Jan. 23 that the village's Emergency Management Agency recently received its accreditation from the Illinois Emergency Management Act. The village's emergency operations plan was also approved, with no deficiencies.

The approval and accreditation means the village has met all current National Incident Management System requirements, in accordance with U.S. Department of Homeland Security and State of Illinois directives.

“It is vitally important to maintain a strong emergency management program, because every disaster begins as a local emergency,” said Trustee Brian Maher, chairman of the Village Board’s Public Safety Committee, in a press release. “Accreditation confirms that Tinley Park is prepared.”

The accreditation and approval for Tinley Park also mean that the village should be able to seek more federal and state grand funding, said Tinley Park Mayor Ed Zambroki.
