Woman Accused of Filling Fake Prescriptions, Using Doctor's ID

Tinley Park doctor's federal ID number used to fraudulently obtain narcotics from Walgreens, police say.

A woman accused of filling fraudulent prescriptions at an Oak Lawn Walgreens faces 10 felony counts.

Jennifer King, 30, who also goes by the name "Jennifer Stallard," was charged July 22 with five counts of unlawful acquisition of a controlled substance and five counts of possession. The police report lists addresses for King in both Chicago and Hometown.

Police said King used her Tinley Park doctor’s federal identification number to fill the prescriptions at the Walgreens at 4740 W. 95th St.

The pharmacist told police that someone posing as a doctor phoned in several orders to an out-of-state call center, where information was entered into the company’s corporate computer system and sent to the Oak Lawn branch for processing.

The prescriptions all were for the same pain medication and each had a different patient’s name. The pharmacist was able to verify with the doctor that the prescriptions were fraudulent.

Police said King visited the Walgreens four times, on July 14, July 15, July 16 and July 17, and she paid for the prescriptions in cash. Employees also identified King from a photo lineup and security video.

King was arrested in the driveway of her residence in Hometown on July 22. After being read her rights at the police station, she asked to speak to an attorney and the interview was terminated, reports said.

Police found an empty vial for the pain medication prescribed by “Dr. G. King,” along with handwritten notes containing fictitious patients’ names and the doctor’s federal ID number, police said.

The Tinley Park doctor verified that the prescriptions were filled using his federal ID number. Police said the doctor also verified King’s alias, Jennifer Stallard, as one of his patients.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s office approved felony charges.
