Woman Greets Intruder, Sees Familiar Face

A Tinley resident told police that her relative may have burglarized her home this week.

A resident called police early Wednesday after she heard someone walking around in her home. She later realized that she knew the intruder.

The woman, of the 16700 block of Westwind Drive in , said she first heard the noises around 5:30 a.m. and assumed it was her father, who is awake at 4:30 a.m. three days a week. She called out to him and didn't get a reply, she said in the report.

The woman then went to greet the potential burglar and realized he was a relative. She asked the 48-year-old man, who's from Oak Forest, what he was doing in her home.

"The individual said 'nothing,' and ran out the rear sliding glass door," the report said.

The resident didn't see anything in the man's hands, she said, nor did she see him leave in a vehicle.

"The witness knows the (suspect) to have a crack cocaine addiction and frequents her residence to eat, watch movies and sleep over," the report said. "The suspect does not have a key to the residence and last stayed over … during the second week of June."

When the father returned home, he noticed that his 32-inch LCD television and remote missing. He then found his basement's bathroom window open and the screen cut.
