Woman Wakes to See Burglar's 'Shadow' in Her Room

A local woman called the cops after she spotted a man in her room in the middle of the night. She then found several of her belongings missing.

A local woman told police that she woke around 1:50 a.m. Thursday to find someone in her bedroom with a flashlight who didn't speak or come near her but stole several items from her home.

The woman, who lives on Manchester Street in , said when she opened her eyes she "sensed" someone was in her bedroom. She smelled men's cologne so she called out her son's name.

"At that point, she saw a flashlight shining in her bedroom and the 'shadow' left her room," the report states.

She said her garage door was opened and her front door was closed but unlocked.

Missing from the home was her black wallet, which contained her identification, a credit card, two gift cards, $40 cash and her Social Security card. A prescription bottle of Hyrdrocodone—a pain killer—with about 30 pills inside, an iPod Nano and its Bose docking station, a cell phone and a black box with costume jewelry inside were also stolen.

Cabinets in several rooms were left open but nothing was missing from them, according to the report.

The woman's Chase credit card was used for a $436.95 purchase at Walmart in Crestwood. The case remained under investigation on Monday. The resident said she was unsure if she would sign complaints.
