Freedom to Know: See What Residents Asked of the Village in September

The Freedom of Information Act is exactly that. Your freedom to get handy tidbits about where you live.

Many don't but the following chart shows that some in Tinley do.

In September, received 30 requests for various public documents, costing a total of $379.50. That's nine shy of August's totals and the village paid about $300 less than it did then—$690—to fill them. The cost of documents to the village depends on how much time employees spend gathering the information. In August, village staff spent 20 hours filling requests and in September, 11 hours.

Between September 2010 and September 2011, about 254 hours were spent filling 381 requests that cost $8,719, according to village documents.
