Eberhardt, who organized the petition that put an advisory referendum about term limits on the November 2012 ballot, was asked to speak by the head of the commission, Kenneth Slater, according to a release from the public relations coordinator of Eberhardt's campaign.

The advisory referendum asked: “Shall the Village Board of the Village of Tinley Park pass an Ordinance imposing term limits on all elected officials?” It passed by a 3-to-1 margin, but because the referendum is only advisory, the board does not have to act.
