Train Safety is Topic of Commuter Event

Representatives from Metra's Safety Department will present a commuter safety blitz from 5 a.m. through the morning rush hour on Tuesday, July 12, at the Oak Park Avenue train station.

A short safety film will be shown, and printed safety materials and giveaway items will be distributed to commuters. The representatives will be available to discuss safety rules and answer questions.

The Tinley Park Police Department is focusing on enforcement of pedestrian safety at rail crossings. It is against the law to cross railroad tracks when visible or audible warnings that a train is approaching are present.
