House, Senate Approve Same-Sex Marriage Bill—Send to Governor

Take a look at a few reactions to Illinois coming one step closer to being the 15th state in the country to legalize gay marriage.

A bill to legalize same-sex marriage in Illinois has cleared the Senate and House—and now heads to Gov. Pat Quinn's desk.

The Illinois House of Representatives narrowly approved same-sex marriage Tuesday, with a 61-54 vote, according to NBC Chicago. The Senate then also approved the amended bill, in a 32-21 vote. It now heads to Gov. Pat Quinn's desk for consideration.

Gov. Quinn has already signaled that he would sign such a bill. The vote comes less than a month after supporters rallied in Springfield for marriage equality
