Get a Glimpse of the Faces of the Illinois Republican Convention

For the first time in history, the Illinois Republican convention has made its way to Tinley Park.

The state's Republicans came in droves to on Friday sporting suits, red white and blue, and American flag T-shirts.

All were eager to take part in the weekend's , where there have been opinions about the importance of keeping marriage between one man and one woman and decisions made on party platform issues like .

Comments got a bit heated during delegates' talks of the nomination for the party's Republican National Committeeman. While newcomer candidate William Kelly didn't get a second look or even a nod of approval from delegates, others, like Alexander "Sandy" Stuart were specifically questioned on their donations over the years to donate to groups like Planned Parenthood.

Though slightly unorganized, the first day of the convention went off without a hitch.

Peruse our accompanying photo gallery for a glimpse of the action and keep your eye out for more throughout the weekend.

Obama=war on women. There are 800,000 more unemployed women due to Obama's failed economic policies since he took office .
Bob June 10, 2012 at 11:25 pm
"Every intelligent, thinking, fair minded man and woman I know is insulted by the GOP's intrusion into the private lives and health matters of grown women."
I guess that group who "you know" is a very small group. Probably less than 0 including the poster!LOL

Sara...I know facts are not your strong suit, but please name THREE of what you call "anti woman" bills that passed in the last three years without Democratic support.
Bob June 10, 2012 at 11:36 pm
I recently had an interesting debate concerning "choice" while circulating petitions. The couple's teenage son was sitting outside with the door locked behind him, and he told me he was an "anarchist". the "Mom" said she believed in unlimited power of a "mother" to terminate her unborn at any time. I asked her if it was OK for a "Mom" to kill her newborn as it was being born. She said "yes" I asked her if she thought it was ok for a "Mom" to kill her newborn if it left her body, but still umbilically attached. She said "yes". I asked her if it was ok for a "Mom" to kill her newborn after its umbilical cord was severed. She said "yes". I was astounded that any woman, especially a mother, could think that way.
Bob June 10, 2012 at 11:43 pm
I then asked why she thought the mother had this murderous right. She said the childe was "her body". I told her that I assumed that she had at least somoe rudimentary biological knowledge, then asked her what was uniquely found in every cell in her body that made it "hers". I saw her struggling, so I told her that which is part of her body has her complete DNA in it, everything from her skin to her saliva to her blood. Then I asked her if it was possible for her unborn child to have her EXACT DNA as does every part of her body. She said no, but she knew wehere this was heading. The fact is that an unborn child has its own unique DNA, and is not "part of the mothers body". It's a unique and separate human being that has a symbiotic relationship with the mother, much like a nursing mother has with a newborn. I asked again, why should she have the right to kill someone that is not part of her body?
Bob June 10, 2012 at 11:48 pm
Then I aasked her that if she's getting a transfusion of blood from somebody as a mother gives fluids to an unborn, does the person giving her blood then have the right to kill her because now she's part of "his body" by taking his blood? I asked if someone is giving her air in resussitation does he have the right to kill her because by breathing HIS air into her she has a symbiotic relationshsip with him as does a mother to child? At this point, of course, her logic left her and she left, but her husband and son remained.
Bob June 10, 2012 at 11:54 pm
I told them that I thought that "owning" another person was morally wrong, whether it's a slave and master on a plantation or a mother with an unborn child. The mother does not "own" the child; they're connected and need to rely in each other for life.
That's really what the pro-life movement is about; fighting against those who believe they can "own" other innocent human beings and abuse, or kill, them at their whim. This nation paid a penance of blood for the evil of slavery 150 years ago. One wonders what price we will need to pay for allowing our current murderous "slavery" under the deception fo calling it "reproductive freedom">

in 2012 - Abortion is called "Women's Health". Sounds lovely, doesn't it?
Genvieve LaChappele June 11, 2012 at 12:23 am
human rights are for everyone except conservative women and fetuses.

Where's the budget?
Russ June 11, 2012 at 01:31 am
FwMom,
I never said all the responsibility for preventing pregnancy is on the women.Your reply to contraception is interesting, the way you say your not against it and then you say why should it be joe taxdollars responsibility. Ultimately who pays for a child born to an unemployed single mom? So your ok, with condoms, but not birth control pills? I just think contraception is one of the best preventions of abortions. I am not opposed to having my tax dollars pay for it. I am not judging people when it comes to their sexual practices. Your response to equal pay for women is laughable. "The kindest thing we can do for women who need to work part-time and have greater flexibility (due to motherhoood) is to NOT pass a law that would endanger their ability to get a job". Really, you are afraid to raise a question about equal pay to your employer? So are a lot of other women that is why the ledbetter act was passed in 2009.
FrankfortWorkingMom June 11, 2012 at 01:53 am
1. I never said I was OK with condoms, but not birth control pills. I'm ok with any kind of birth control prior to conception. (I have to clarify because some women use 'abortion' as a birth control method.) I simply wonder why the Democrats never ask men to take responsibility for birth control The Democrats lay all the responsibility on women. How is that fair? Seems to me - it takes two. 2. My response to Equal pay is only laughable to people who think Big Government is the answer. The first responsibility of the government is to keep us free. Free to succeed and free to fail. Employers should be free to pay what they can afford and what each employee is worth. They will pay good people a higher wage and poor performers less - as it should be. Of course, the employees always have the freedom to work somewhere else. By legislating away their freedom to choose, you are creating 'unintended consequences' will only hurt both the employee and the employer. Why do you hate freedom? Why do you love Trial Lawyers?
FrankfortWorkingMom June 11, 2012 at 02:02 am
Also Russ - If you want to pay for everyone else's birth control - go ahead. Donate to Planned Parenthood, or whoever you wish. You should have the freedom to do whatever you want with your money. It's not how I CHOOSE to spend MY money.. there's that pesky word again. CHOOSE. FREEDOM TO CHOOSE, which you are so willing to take away from me. Just wait, dude. You're next. When they can take away my right to choose - they are taking yours also. Just keep believing that this is about contraception.. You are falling for their deception and they are laughing all the way back to their Washigton condos.. Watch the other hand, Russ. Watch the other hand.
Russ June 11, 2012 at 02:50 am
FWMom,
Sometimes big government is the answer.I realize some people have better work ethics, are more talented and better performers than others. If an employer chooses to reward that employee with bonuses, pay raises or promotions great. The problem is when that great employee happens to be a women or someone of color that the employer chooses to discriminate against. For whatever reason, maybe, the employer wanted sexual favors and didn't get them, maybe he just doesn't like people of color. If two workers are performing equally and the one happens to be a women she shouldn't get less pay because of her sex. Nor should a person get less pay because of his or her color.
Russ June 11, 2012 at 03:00 am
FwMom'
It is interesting how you are all about freedom to choose and you don't want big government to be a part of that choice. Does that also apply for women to have the right to choose what happens to their bodies? Should government tell them what choices they should make?
FrankfortWorkingMom June 11, 2012 at 03:30 am
1. Big Government is NEVER the answer. The Constitution is a charter of negative liberties FOR A REASON. The Founding Fathers brilliantly ennumerated the powers of the federal government, to keep them at a distance. The States were to have the most power, to encourage competition among them to provide the best environments for families and business. This government has gotten TOO big and bossy. AND they spend our money like monopoly money. I'm sick of it. I don't want them telling me what kind of light bulb or washing machine to buy. I don't want them telling my boss how much to pay me! I want him to pay me exactly what I'm worth, let my talents drive up the price, allowing ME to earn what the market will bear. If an employer CHOOSES not to pay employees equally - they will leave. and they have the FREEDOM to do so. I am pro-life. I would recommend against abortion every time. However, the Supreme Court has ruled that abortion is legal - so, with great sadness, I accept their ruling. If a woman chooses to kill her unborn child - she can do so. But, at some point the 'fetus' becomes a viable human baby inside the womb. The brain and nervous system are formed. Late Term abortions are horrific and cruel and no longer become an issue of 'the woman's body'. This is clearly a Right to Life argument. Terminating a pregnancy after the baby is capable of surviving outside the womb is murder.

btw: where's the budget? 3 years. no budget from the Senate. Who's in charge? oh yes.. that would be Harry Reid.... He's breaking the law and liberals don't care.. Where is Eric Holder? God forbid if a budget wasn't passed under George Bush! Democrats would have been apoplectic!
Rob Piorkowski June 11, 2012 at 12:56 pm
better yet....where is the balanced budget?
Though the House just changed a few months ago... Its been several years of democratic controlled house, senate and white house and no federal approved budget. But lots of spending to buy our way out of a crappy recession. Current elected folks are about blame, fear and spending (wasting) OUR money!!
Rob Piorkowski June 11, 2012 at 12:58 pm
I would consider a draft budget....BUT we need a balanced budget...
democratic controlled house and senate did not do anything except spend over those few years...

Turns out it was a minor crash, according to state police. No one was injured enough to require aRead More trip in an ambulance. Two cars were involved in the collision, which happened at about 2 p.m.
Local Citizen June 18, 2013 at 02:01 pm
I'd also contact whichever bank has this in foreclosure. If they're the legal owners, then they'reRead More responsible. Maybe the threat of a lawsuit if someone gets sick or injured might prompt them to take action.
Concerned Citizen June 18, 2013 at 02:31 pm
The problem is that nobody knows or can locate the bank who owns this property. I have contacted aRead More friend of mine whom is a realtor and there saying it's owned by HUD! Well good luck getting in touch with them!
Concerned Citizen June 18, 2013 at 05:47 pm
Well I just ran into an inspector sent by the bank who entered the property and said that the coinsRead More have eaten through the ceiling of he living room! I knew it!!!

We too live in Parkside and I couldn't agree with you more! I love your sign! I have a three yearRead More old and I refuse to let him play on the last 15 feet of the driveway due to the speeding cars. Maybe a speed bump?!
dalygirl June 16, 2013 at 09:25 am
We've looked into a speed bump too. Make yourself a sign, call the Tinley Police and ask for theRead More electronic monitoring sign, call the village and complain, and be pro-active. Someone from the village saw my sign and has informed me that the village will be putting up speed limit signs and caution - kids playing signs this week. Good luck!!
