Is Ald. Sandi Jackson Looking to Take Her Husband's Vacated Seat?

Conflicting media reports offer little confirmation as to whether the alderman will run for the 2nd District congressional seat, vacated by Jesse Jackson Jr. last month.

This week's news coverage of the 2nd District special election has produced conflicting stories about Ald. Sandi Jackson, wife of former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.

Jackson will not be running to replace her husband and represent the 2nd District, the alderman's chief of staff, Keiana Barrett, told Sun-Times Media.

But Friends of Sandi Jackson told Fox Chicago Jackson will resign from her seat as Chicago's 7th Ward Alderman. DNAInfo's Mark Konkol takes the speculation a little further, reporting that Jackson told him, "Never say never."

If Jackson does add her name to the growing list of 2nd District candidates, she would be up against state senators Toi Hutchinson and Napoleon Harris, as well as former U.S. Rep. Debbie Halvorson. One of the more controversial entries into the race was former U.S. Rep. Mel Reynolds, who is a convicted sex offender.

Who will you be voting for in the 2nd District special elections? Why?

Well, no surprise there. The arrogance of this family is unequaled.

I believe current IL State Sen. Toi Hutchinson, if elected, is the best candidate to serve the 2nd Congressional constituency. She is young, intelligent, experienced, well liked and well received in the political arena. I also believe that while she'll have to serve and represent the 2nd C.D. in its entirety, on a fair and equal basis, that she won't forget about us long-forgotten and long-suffering south suburbanites who are damned to always be caught in the middle of the City of Chicago and Cook County politics. Thank You.

Yep, she was bright enough to draw $5,000 a month as his "campaign manager" and her so called firm J. Donnatella and Associates has been on the payroll for years. You should remain Annonymous because any post suggesting she might be suited for the open D2 slot borders on the ridiculous.

Well, her bill sponsor and voting record is unimpressive. And then there are the $13K in credit card bills she had to go to court over. No thanks.
