Kosel Retiring from State House in 2015

Illinois State Representative Renee Kosel will continue her current term for the 37th district, but she will not be running for re-election.

Renee Kosel will not be running for another term as state representative after her current term ends in 2015.

State Representative Kosel (R-New Lenox) has served since 1997 starting with the 81st district and then the 37th district, which includes Orland Park, Tinley Park, New Lenox, Mokena, Frankfort, Joliet, Lockport and Homer Glen.

“It is with mixed emotion that I am announcing that I will not seek another term as your State Representative,” said Kosel in a release.  “I will complete my current term that ends in January of 2015 and I will let the political process determine my successor.  Since taking office in January of 1997 I have seen Illinois in good times and bad, and I have always been impressed with the resilience and dedication the people of Illinois have.”

Correction: In the original post, Renee Kosel was incorrectly listed as a state senator. She serves as the 37th district state representative. Patch regrets the error.
