Officials OK More Limits on Cruise Night Parking
Trustees gave the go-ahead Tuesday to the first reading of a motion that if given final approval later this month, will further restrict parking on Oak Park Avenue once a week.
Officials took the next step Tuesday night to further restrict traffic on Oak Park Avenue during this summer's .
They've said the measure—it prevents parking on not one, but both sides of the street—should help make a during the weekly event. Trustees approved the motion's first reading Tuesday. If given the final go-ahead at the next village board meeting, restrictions will not be in place by June 5, which is this year's first scheduled Cruise Night, officials said.
"It works out for the best because it will give the police department time to prepare," said Trustee Brian Maher, chair of the Public Safety Committee.

The and are sponsored by the village's MainStreet Commission. Event organizers plan to work with property owners on the west side of Oak Park Avenue regarding potential upcoming changes. Access to private driveways will not be affected, officials said.
