Tinley Officials Are Preparing Offer to New Police Chief

The mayor said officials are currently working on a proposal for their chosen Tinley Park police chief candidate.

Officials plan to announce a new chief around Thanksgiving, despite the reported drop-out of one of a trio of finalists.

Mayor Ed Zabrocki said officials are now preparing a proposal for the chosen candidate, who was selected during a closed session meeting on Monday. They will not release his name until he accepts an offer, Zabrocki said.

"Now, it's just about working out those final details," he said Tuesday following a Committee of the Whole meeting.

Brian Maher, village trustee and chair of the Public Safety Committee, told Triblocal on Wednesday that the withdrawal of one of the final three candidates wouldn't disrupt the search process.

Bloomington Police Chief Randy McKinley removed his name from the group, according to the story.

“He said to Voorhees he’s just too stressed out right now,” Maher told Triblocal. “He wants to step back and consider if this is the right time for him.”
