Tinley Park Term Limit Measure Closer to Ballot

Trustees had a first reading last week, and a final vote could come next month.

Voters are closer to seeing a referendum on whether the terms of Tinley Park officials could be limited.

A proposal that would set term limits for trustees, mayor, and clerk was given a first reading last week. If ultimately approved, a referendum would be placed on on the November ballot, asking residents if they support limiting how long officials can serve.

Sun-Times Media reports that in November 2012, 17,000 residents voted in favor of term limits, while 6,600 voted it down.
