Tinley Park Wins 6th Straight Award for National Night Out

This year's event, which spotlights crime, drug and violence prevention and awareness, was one of only three in the state to be honored by the National Association of Town Watch.

The Village of Tinley Park earned a National Night Out Award for 2012 from the National Association of Town Watch, the sixth consecutive year for the village, according to a village press release.

Tinley Park's event, which is the local component of a national crime, drug and violence prevention and awareness program, was one of only three towns from Illinois to win in its category, the release stated.

“This event is very important to the community and to our staff and volunteers, who work hard to organize it,” Mayor Ed Zabrocki stated in the release. “We are very proud of the successful results.”

The village's 2013 National Night Out is set to run from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, in Zabrocki Plaza.
