Tinley's Own Opens Republican National Convention Session

Yet another Tinley Park resident is gaining national attention this week as Village Clerk Pat Rea joins his fellow Republicans at the national convention in Florida. Keep your eyes peeled and you'll find him reciting the Pledge of Allegiance tonight.

native Pat Rea is joining his fellow Republicans Wednesday night for an act of patriotism that's a first even for a retired Army brigadier general.

The 72-year-old, who serves as the local Village Clerk, will be leading delegates while they recite the Pledge of Allegiance in Florida to open the evening session of the 2012 Republican National Convention. Mayor Ed Zabrocki said Rea's prestigious Army credentials and service during the Vietnam War from 1965-66 were "instrumental" in his selection.

"Of course this is exciting for Tinley Park!" Zabrocki said. "We're very proud of Pat and all his accomplishments."
