Will County Officials Join Call to Save Tinley Park Mental Health Center

Will County's top two officers say the state should not close the Tinley Park Mental Health Center.

Will County Executive Larry Walsh and State’s Attorney Jim Glasgow have joined the chorus calling on Gov. Pat Quinn not to close the state’s mental health facility in Tinley Park, according to a story on the Herald-News website.

At a news conference Wednesday, the pair called the center a "safety net" for mentally ill patients.

Quinn’s office wants to close the center by July. If it were to remain open, it would cost the state $20.6 million to run, his office has said.
