Does it Cost More to Go to a Public University in Illinois Than in Other States?

On average, how much does it cost for an Illinois resident to attend a public university in Illinois?

College is costly. There's no denying that. And private institutions cost more to attend than their public brethren. Public universities are supposed to more affordable higher education options, but in some states, they stretch the term "affordable."

And one of those states is Illinois.

The average in-state tuition and fees at public Illinois universities across the state is the fifth highest mark in the nation. How much do Illinois residents pay on average?
