Exclusive Reboot Illinois Poll: 2 Heavyweights Square Off in Comptroller Race. Who Holds the Early Lead?

The Illinois comptroller race is a matchup of candidates with long pedigrees. Who has the early lead between Judy Baar Topinka and Sheila Simon?

The contest for Illinois State Comptroller finds two candidates with long, deep party pedigrees facing off. One is the incumbent comptroller, the other has been the lieutenant governor for the past four years.

Incumbent Judy Baar Topinka has been a stalwart of the Illinois Republican Party since 1980, when she was elected to the Illinois House.

Her Democratic challenger, Sheila Simon, is the daughter of legendary Illinois Democrat Paul Simon.

Despite Topinka’s Republican credentials, she has long enjoyed the support of Illinois’ public sector unions. In January, she secured the endorsement of the Illinois AFL-CIO and that support over Simon was reaffirmed for the fall campaign just last week.

Can Simon overcome that support that Topinka receives from the unions? Who's got the lead in the race between Judy Baar Topinka and Sheila Simon as of today?

Check out the results of the poll here.
