High Time for Illinois to Legalize Pot? Some Lawmakers Believe So

Four state lawmakers say it's time to talk about legalizing recreational marijuana. What do you think?

At the start of 2014, Illinois became the 20th state in the nation to legalize medical marijuana, but four Chicago-area Democrats want to go further than that. They want Illinois to follow the examples of Colorado and Washington and legalize recreational marijuana for adults.

Currently Alaska is the only state that might have the legalization of marijuana voted on in 2014. If the legalization of recreational marijuana comes up for a vote in Illinois, it wouldn't be until at least 2016. If that happens, Illinois would still be one of the first states to even have a vote on the measure.
