How Much Federal Cash Does Illinois Get for Schools?

Illinois receives a lot of federal funding for schools, but do we receive more than any other state?

How much federal funding did Illinois get for its schools? Over $1.4 billion and enough to rank in the top five nationally. Granted, that's total funding and not broken down as funding per school, so Illinois would naturally be much higher on the list than a state such as North Dakota. But it's clear we do get a lot from the federal government for our schools. But do we get the most?

While Illinois is in the top five in that category, it's in the bottom five in state unemployment rate. But there is some good news! Illinois was second-worst in the nation according to February figures, but leapfrogged ahead of Nevada in March. So we're moving on up, but we're still 48th in the country.
