The conservative group Americans for Prosperity strongly opposes the effort to bring a progressive income tax system to Illinois. Like many opponents, it believes implementing a graduated-rate tax system is merely a way for lawmakers to get more money for state government that they will squander through excessive spending and poor management practices that have made Illinois the financial disaster it is today.
