That, plus nine other new laws that have taken effect in Illinois during the past few months.

Jan. 1 isn't the only time of the year where new laws take effect in Illinois. With the spring session in Springfield wrapping up at the end of May, there have been a handful of new laws that have gone into effect.

Chances are you aren't aware of all of these laws, so we're here to catch you up on which new laws are on the book in Illinois, including a law that requires all Illinois teenagers to become CPR certified and learn how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Check out that law and nine more new laws in Illinois, including the newest learning disability to be included in Illinois' special education provisions.

Included in that list are referendums that will be on the November ballot in Illinois. Also on the November ballot will be the race for governor, a race between Pat Quinn and Bruce Rauner that is heating up especially with Rauner coming out with more specifics about his economic plan for Illinois.

Reboot Illinois' Madeleine Doubek and Matt Dietrich analyzed Rauner's plan for fixing Illinois' finances and reviving its business climate.
