$942K in Renovations Planned for Stagg, Sandburg

A more secure entryway, acoustical ceilings and fresh sidewalks are included in the plans.

District 230 board members this week approved a new main entrance at Sandburg, and freshly poured sidewalks and steps for Stagg, among $942,000 in changes to the schools.

Sandburg's new main entrance will include a vestibule where visitors will be required to check in, before school staff admits entry into the school through a second set of doors. The updates were suggested during a security audit conducted a few years ago, according to the Tribune.

Sandburg's grill area will also be tweaked and an acoustical ceiling will be installed in the dance studio, to help with noise. The district also plans to replace the concrete sidewalks and stairs leading to the school's main entrance.
