D228 Administrator Contracts Up for Revision

The Bremen High School District 228 board of education approved a potential new contract for district administrators. The contract will be presented to the administrators sometime early next week.

Months after agreeing on a new contract with the Joint Faculty Association, District 228 board members took a closer look at adminstrator contracts during a special meeting Dec. 28.

A new approach to contracts includes modeling administrator contracts more similarly to teacher contracts, including pension line items, said Community Relations Coordinator Lori DeVos. Details were discussed in closed session; board members approved the measure in a public vote. District administration have yet to view and approve a formal contract.

“The board met last week to go over, to put together a new mulit-year contract for administrators so that it was similar to the teachers' contract,” DeVos said. “So, that all the certified staff had something that is similar to each other.”

District 228 Supt. Dr. Bill Kendall will present the contract to administration early next week.

Should certified staff members approve the contract, it will go before the board for final approval.

Do you need to work in education in order to have an opinion on the state of education in District 228? I don't work in education either, unless you count the time my wife and I spend with our children helping with homework or the time my wife and I spend helping out at their schools. I happen to believe that the salaries should reflect the performance of the teacher, not how long they have been teaching.

Help vote Deb Stearns out!!! I voiced my concern to her about out-of-district students going to 228 and she had me fired. I worked as a sub for 3 years in the district and came in contact with some of these students. She is what is wrong with the education system.

When is the next meeting and who is eligible to vote? I'm sick of people like Deb Stearns gloating in their position of power over the powerless.
