District 146 Asks for Feedback in Community Survey

Surveys will be available online, with a separate version for parents of students within the district, and community members without children in the district.

As part of its strategic planning process launched in April 2014, Community Consolidated School District 146 (District 146) is conducting a community-wide survey from May 27 through June 10. The survey will be open to all residents and businesses within the boundaries of District 146. A Community Survey will be available to those residents who do not have children in the district, while a separate survey will be e-mailed to those households that currently have a child enrolled in the district. The strategic planning process is designed to engage all District 146 stakeholder groups—including parents, employees, students, and community residents—in developing a shared future vision for the District.

“Effective education of students requires a commitment from our entire community, and we are excited about this inclusive strategic planning process that gives all our stakeholders an opportunity to participate,” said Dr. Jeff Stawick, Superintendent. “This process is very different than what most schools undertake. It is research-based, which means decisions are based on data instead of intuition. Most importantly, this process helps us create the future of our schools.”

The Community Survey link is available on the district’s website. The survey will offer residents, who do not have children in the district, an opportunity to answer questions about their perceptions of the schools and their vision for the future of community schools.

A separate survey will be e-mailed individually to parents of students who currently attend District 146 schools within the upcoming week.  Additionally, District 146 employees and students are being surveyed internally. All responses will remain anonymous.  Involvement of the entire community will result in a long-term framework for decision-making that builds upon the common values held by the District 146 community.

ECRA Group Inc., an independent research firm, is conducting the surveys. They will analyze responses and prepare a Strategic Plan report for the District to share with the community in the fall of 2014. ECRA is an established leader in the areas of educational assessment, research, and strategic planning. Based in Rosemont, Illinois, ECRA has over 35 years of experience helping educational organizations across the nation better understand and document their performance, and chart a course for the future.
