Chili Cook-Off to Benefit Lincoln-Way North Athletic Programs

Think you’ve got a great chili recipe? Test it out at a chili cook-off to be held Oct. 29 at Lincoln-Way North High School.

The school’s Athletic Boosters are organizing their 4th Annual Chili Cook-Off, with proceeds benefitting the athletic programs at Lincoln-Way North.

“Your generous participation in this competition will help a great cause and will showcase your great cooking skills for one and all to savor,” said Athletic Boosters volunteer Karen Town.

Participants will be expected to prepare at least two gallons of their favorite recipe in advance and bring it to the school cafeteria by 10:30 a.m. Oct. 29. There, they will be given space to hook up their own heating apparatus (crock-pot, camping stove or canned fuel) and to serve up their chili to judges as well as community members who pay 50 cents to sample each recipe.

The Lincoln-Way North Athletic Boosters will provide cups and spoons for samples, but contestants will be expected to bring their own extension cords, serving utensils and food thermometers to make sure the chili stays at a safe 160 degrees throughout the competition.

There is a $20 entry fee to participate in the contest. Registration forms are available online at www.lwnab.org.

The cook-off will be limited to 30 contestants.

The Chili Cook-Off will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 29 in the Lincoln-Way North cafeteria, 19900 S. Harlem Ave., Frankfort.

Winners will be announced by 2:30 p.m. that day.
