Palos-Orland League of Women Voters Meeting

April 14th,  2012 Meeting of the League of Women Voters – Palos Orland Area

The April 14th meeting of the LWV Palos Orland Area will feature Criminal Court Judge Diane Gordon Cannon.  A judge since 1996, she has been a supporter of the Sheriff’s Boot Camp as an alternative to incarceration for certain non-violent offenders between the ages of 17 and 35.  The camp is located adjacent to the Cook County Department of corrections complex and is a one-year program consisting of 18 weeks of intensive military training and an 8-month supervised post-release program.  The boot camp opened in 1997 under the leadership of Sheriff Michael Sheahan and has continued and expanded under Sheriff Tom Dart.
