Scavenger Hunt to Benefit Local Food Pantry

In honor of Make a Difference Week, students at Lincoln-Way North High School will be participating in a special scavenger hunt Oct. 19 and Oct. 22, collecting toiletries, cleaning products and nonperishable food items for the local food pantry.

Students will be going door-to-door in the Frankfort area collecting items for the Frankfort Township Food Pantry.

“We are taking the initiative to help our local food pantry because all around the nation, food pantries are in desperate need of supplies,” said Lincoln-Way North teacher, JV cheerleading coach and Mathletes coach Christin Parker, who is overseeing the collection.

“It is important for us and our students to take the initiative in helping our community, especially the hungry, and give back things we have to those that don’t,” she added.

More than eight student clubs and athletic teams with varsity, junior varsity, and freshmen levels are participating in the event, which has been dubbed “The Help Heal Hunger Hunt!”

To add a competitive edge, each club or team will be challenged to see who can gather every single item listed on the scavenger hunt list. They’ll also see who can gather the most items in general.

Residents who would like to donate items in advance may contact Parker at cparker@lw210.org or 815-534-3107 to arrange for pick up. Donations may also be dropped off the week of Oct. 17-21 at the main office of Lincoln-Way North High School, 19900 S. Harlem Ave., Frankfort.

“We appreciate the community’s support in our initiative to Help Heal Hunger!” said Parker.
