Tinley Park Football Quarterback Sheridan a Winner in Patch Athlete of Week Voting, Too

After leading Tinley Park to a 42-28 victory over Oak Forest, Titans football quarterback Kyle Sheridan wins at the ballot box, too. He is elected as Patch Athlete of the Week for the Southland for the week ending Oct. 9.

Tinley Park senior quarterback Kyle Sheridan won’t remember the football game for his individual stats.

He will remember what matters most—he led the Titans to a 42-28 victory over Oak Forest on Oct. 7. His efforts helped Tinley Park snap a 17-year dry spell against the Bengals.

He is recognized today as the Patch Athlete of the Week in the Southland for the week ending Oct. 9 thanks to strong support in fan voting.

Sheridan garnered 69 percent of the votes to outpoll five others--Marian Catholic senior golfer Sylvie Brick, Providence Catholic senior golfer Telly Korbakes, Richards sophomore football quarterback Tommy Mister, Lincoln-Way East senior football wide receiver J.J. Robertson and Sandburg freshman golfer Frankie Saban.

Brick picked up 23 percent of the votes and finished second in the fan poll. A total of 1,130 votes were cast in balloting that ended at 9 p.m. on Thursday.

Sheridan completed 8-of-17 passes for 131 yards and one touchdown in Tinley Park’s win over Oak Forest—good numbers, but not great by his own standards. He was at his best when the game was on the line.

On the Titans’ clinching drive, he rushed for two first downs, completed a third-and-10 pass to Tracey Brandi and capped the drive with a 1-yard touchdown plunge. As a weekly poll winner, Sheridan is now eligible for Patch Athlete of the Month recognition.
