Twice is Nice for Andrew Football's Dennis Vilimek

He didn't find paydirt, but Vilimek's two big carries helped set up Andrew scores in a 24-0 football victory over Stagg.

junior Dennis Vilimek only touched the ball twice Friday night against as his T-bolts beat the rival Chargers 24-0 in front of the home fans, but don't let the low number of carries fool you.

Vilimek rushed for 87 yards. Thirty-seven of those were perhaps the biggest 37 yards of the game. A sack and a holding penalty had the T-Bolts set up for a third-and-36 play on their own 13. Coach Jim Malec called for a reverse and Vilimek was off to the races.

He found the midfield mark for the first down. Five plays later, the T-Bolts scored on Jarvis Franklin's 29-yard touchdown run.

"He got us out of a huge rut," Malec said of Vilimek's run on the reverse. "It was a great play for the junior."

Earlier in the game, Vilimek broke a 50-yard gainer that also set up a touchdown for the T-Bolts (1-2), who cracked the win column for the first time under Malec and started play in the Southwest Suburban Red on a high note.

"Everyone got on their blocks, and I had a wide open lane," Vilimek said. "I just followed my blockers and (both plays) developed for me. These are my longest plays of the year, but I think the third-down play was my biggest so far."

Vilimek was also happy about getting the win.

"It gives us the confidence we need to keep at it," he said.
