Whiz Kids: 230 Honors Music and Skills

These great kids were recently honored by the district for their accomplishments.

At their last board meeting, honored two groups of students for recent accomplishments.

Percussion Team recently took second place, highest in the school's history, in the WGI National Percussion Competition in Dayton, Ohio, competing against 76 other schools from across the nation. The group is a satellite of the marching band.

Ziyad, Kevin Johnson, Justin Benda, Lindsay Leeson, Sarah Wheeler, Alex Rago, Enedina Gamboa, Nick Serafin, Laura Rodriguez, Katelyn Nicasio, Amith Rao, Taylor Vennewitz, Maria Cantazaro, Ally Sasone, Sean Hahn, Angela Bella, Brian Lang, Mitch Olewinski, Stefanie Rymza, Cassie Olewinski, Alyson Bauman and Ryan Blitzstein.

The district also honored students who participated in the 47th Annual Leadership and Skill Conference for Illinois Skills USA in Springfield.

Zdenek Jaks (second place, Auto Service Technology)
Bradley Farrahi (fourth place, Cabinetmaking)
Kierra Raglan (second place, Commercial Baking)
Bryan Kincaid (fourth place, Computer Maintenance Technology)

D230 studetn Conor Fischer will represent Illinois at National Skills USA in June. He took first place at the Illinois Skills USA Screen Printing competition held at Andrew on April 23.
