Customer Thanks Tinley Restaurant for Kindness in Dark Moment

Read what one customer had to say about a kind gesture from a Tinley Park newcomer.

The following was submitted May 29, by a customer of El Coco Mio, 17344 Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park.

When a community comes together to wrap its arms around the grieving, it is the highest expression of compassion and love. When a fledgling business wraps its arms around a grieving family, without regard for profit or the bottom line, it is inspiring to say the least. El CocoMio on 173rd and Oak Park Avenue in Tinley Park has done just that this past week.

Open for business quite recently, El Coco Mio set aside all understandable concerns that a new business might have (getting off the ground financially, profit margin, business hours) to wrap their very generous and loving arms around a family that tragically lost their 17-year-old daughter. One week ago, the Carollo family would have never guessed that they would have to endure the pain of planning a wake and funeral for their beautiful girl.  El Coco Mio offered to not only open early for the funeral luncheon, but paid for all of the food and expenses.  The wait staff at El Coco Mio served the grieving family and friends without pay but with such love and compassion that it leaves me speechless.  In this world that cares so much for profit margin and the bottom dollar, it is inspiring to see a restaurant come together to ease the pain of one of its own.  I will be a forever customer of El Coco Mio and could not be prouder to live in a community that houses an establishment such as this.
