11 Lincoln-Way North Students Commit to College Sports

Find out which athletes will go on to play at the collegiate level.

Eleven Lincoln-Way North student athletes committed to colleges of their choice during a signing day April 30.

As Matt Lyke, North Athletic Director, opened the ceremony he addressed the student-athletes, fellow students, and families stating, “We are extremely proud of our student athletes and honored to be a part of the experience. You have always represented Lincoln-Way North High School in a positive way, and it is much appreciated.

“Through hard work in athletics and academics you have been granted the opportunity to pursue your dreams.”

·      Morgan Parkinson: swimming St. Louis University/ St. Louis, MO.

·      Sam Pietruszynski; tennis for Loras College, Dubuque, IA

·      Brad McFarland; volleyball for Dominican Univ., River Forest, IL

·      Brenna Stremlau; soccer for Roosevelt Univ., Chicago, IL

·      Lexi Cesario; soccer for Columbia College, Columbia SC

·      Ariel Beja, bowling for University of St. Francis, Joliet, IL

·      Katie Utsch; bowling for University of St. Francis, Joliet, IL

·      Cathy Maschmeyer; track for Fontbonne Univ., Clayton, MO.

·      John Orowick; golf for Moraine Valley CC, Palos Hills, IL

·      Colten Keenan; track for Augustana College, Rock Island, IL

Dr. Cohen, speaking to the student-athletes, stated, “The best is yet to come. We at Lincoln-Way North are very proud of you and what you have accomplished here. We all wish you the best of luck and congratulations.”

“We know you will dedicate yourselves as you prepare for the next phase of your life. Always remember, wherever you go, you will carry your Phoenix memories with you forever. Congratulations, you are truly deserving,” said Lyke at the closing of the ceremony.
