Andrew Girls Volleyball Strong at Wheaton North Tournament

The Thunderbolts placed fifth out of 16 teams in the early-season invitational.

The girls volleyball team finished fifth out of 16 teams at the Wheaton North Invitational this past weekend.

The Thunderbolts beat host Wheaton North and Buffalo Grove to advance to the gold division of the tournament on Saturday.
The T-bolts lost their opening gold division match to St. Viator but rebounded to top Oak Forest. Andrew (5-1) finished its run by defeating Glenbard South 25-22, 25-22 in the fifth-place game. 

Maureen Carls had 52 kills and 43 digs for Andrew, while T-bolts setter Tara Andrews finished tournament play with 46 assists.

Boys Golf: Andrew Wins, Tinley Park Loses Close One

Kevin Kasprzyk shot a 43 to lead Andrew to a 182-187 SouthWest Suburban Conference win over Joliet at the Silver Lake Country Club in Orland Park. Bobby Peterson and Paul Schouten each shot a 46 for Andrew over the front nine, while Alex Legreid chipped in with a 47.

lost 181-183 to Shepard at Ravisloe Country Club in Homewood. The Titans’ top finishers were Dave Beam and Jimmy Bettenhausen, each with a 43.

Andrew Soccer Splits

Andrew’s boys soccer team split its first two matches of the season. Andrew opened with a 1-0 win against Francis Parker of Chicago as junior forward Glorind Lisha scored the lone goal of the game. The T-bolts then lost a tough 2-1 battle to Argo in their next outing.
