Athlete of the Week: Tinley Park's McCullough States His Case
Titans junior shows his mettle with his fourth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles at the state track and field meet.
Placing third in the 300-meter low hurdles at the Hillcrest Sectional and heading downstate with an automatic qualifying time of 39.20 was a significant achievement for Tinley Park High School’s Mike McCullough.
But McCullough wasn’t satisfied. The Titans junior kept practicing with his coaches, and then went out and showed his moxie in the biggest meet of the year.
running nearly three-tenths of a second faster than his sectional time. He was clocked at 38.92 seconds. He also exacted some revenge, beating the two runners who bested him at sectionals.
