Athlete of the Week: Tinley Park's Stroz a Strong-Armed Freshman

Titans softball team rolling with the help of young pitcher Miranda Stroz.

Since Game 2 of April 2 doubleheader against Homewood-Flossmoor, Tinley Park’s softball team has won four in a row, thanks in part to the pitching of Miranda Stroz.

Stroz is a freshman who shows wisdom beyond her years in the circle. After a shaky three-run first inning against Oak Lawn, she settled down and allowed seven hits over seven innings, striking out four in a winning effort.

She pitched in a 15-0 win over T.F. North (15-0) and an 8-2 victory over T.F. South. Stroz splits time pitching with Stacey Pickrum.

For her efforts, Stroz has been named Patch's Athlete of the Week.

“If I know they’re a really good team, then yeah (I still get nervous), but not as much as I was at first,” Stroz told Patch reporter David Noell.

Titans coach Wendy Podbielniak hopes to have Stroz on the mound for many years to come.
