Boys Basketball: Lisha Won't Let Pain Slow Him Down

Andrew sophomore Glorind Lisha fought through some pain to lead the T-Bolts past Bradley-Bourbonnais 55-45 on Friday night.

Andrew ophomore guard Glorind Lisha wasn't able to join the T-Bolts' boys basketball team until December because of a knee injury he suffered during the soccer season. But he's not letting the pain of a late start slow him down any more.

Lisha led Andrew with 17 points in Friday night's 55-45 victory over Bradley-Bourbonnais. He's dealing with patellar tendinitis, an injury that effects the the tendon that connects the knee bone to the shin bone.

"He's been playing with us for two months now," Andrew coach Mike O'Halloran said. "He's better now and he's the best he's ever been physically. He played very well."

Lisha hit a pair of three-pointers early in the game, which he said helped him stay motivated for the long haul.

"It boosted (my confidence) a lot," he said. "We needed those. I just played my game."

But Lisha said he was more concerned with the end result than anything he did personally.

"It was all right, at least we got the win," he said. "That's what we needed. We've been on a slump lately. We've lost our last few games. So,  at least we got the win."

The Best Play: Lisha completed a three-point play early in the fourth quarter to help the T-Bolts extend their lead to 44-32.

A Look Ahead: The T-Bolts head to Lincoln-Way West on Monday night to play their makeup game. The two were scheduled to meet last week, but the game was postponed because of the Blizzard of 2011.
