Boys Basketball: Lisha's 17 Points Power Andrew

Andrew 55, Bradley-Bourbonnais 45. Thunderbolts ride a hot start to victory in Southwest Suburban Red.

The Hot Read: Bradley tried to use a trapping, pressure defense to rattle Andrew in the T-Bolts' 55-45 boys basketball victory on Friday night. Andrew trailed 12-11 at the end of the first quarter, but the T-Bolts held Bradley to four points in the second quarter. Andrew took a 22-15 lead at halftime and carried that momentum over into the second half.

Patch's MVP: Glorind Lisha (17 points). Lisha hit a three-point shot early in the first quarter to give the T-Bolts a 7-0 lead. He drained another 3 near the end of the half as Andrew stretched its lead to 22-15 at the break.

Key Stats: Andrew outrebounded Bradley 26-14. But the T-Bolts were whistled for 15 fouls, which gave Bradley a chance to stay in the game. The Boilermakers, however, were just 11-of-17 from the free throw line. Andrew capitalized on Bradley's 18 fouls as the T-Bolts hit 17-of-25 from the line.

Quotable: T-Bolts coach Mike O'Halloran on his team's improvement from its last outing: "I thought we played smarter. They realized the different situations and what needed to be done. Even at the end, on offense and defense, we are starting to understand the game of basketball, and at this time of year that's huge."

Team Records: Andrew, 11-9 and 5-5 in the Southwest Suburban Red. Bradley, 9-19 and 4-11.
