Class 5A Football: Tinley Park Ousted from Playoffs by Marian Central

Marian Central Catholic 55, Tinley Park 39: Titans put up plenty of points, but the host Hurricanes storm to victory in Woodstock.

’s football season came to an end Saturday night as the Titans were scorched 55-39 by host Marian Central Catholic in the second round of the Class 5A state playoffs.

Tinley made the long trek to Woodstock as the seventh seed to face the second-seeded and unbeaten Hurricanes, whose defense had allowed an average of just 12.2 points per game. Tinley’s high-powered offense certainly did its part, as the Titans jumped out to a 33-14 lead at one point in the first half.

But Marian Central (11-0), led by quarterback Chris Streveler, turned it on in front of its home crowd for the comeback victory. Streveler amassed nearly 400 yards in total offense, rushing for two touchdowns and passing for three.
